Samson is from Hampden Maine where he has grown up in a big family with a lot of siblings. He is a very smart young man and started college at the age of 15. He attends the University of Maine. He will have a degree in computer science with a minor in New Medial. He is a student consultant at the Black Bear Consulting Corps where he is interning. He is also a volunteer and Vice President of Circle K International and a founding member of the National Honor Society. Earlier this year, he presented at the Maine Patients Safety Academy on Empowering Patient Safety and Enhancing User Experience with a user-Friendly Healthcare Application.
But he is also the son of a whistleblower. His mom, a pediatric intensive care physician, reported her concerns about pediatric safety at the Northern Lights Eastern Maine Medical Center and was fired. Samson was outraged. He did his own research and contacted the hospital administrators who refused to meet with him so then he wrote a letter to the editor of his University of Maine newsletter. He created a CHANGE.ORG petition to investigate the safety concerns at the hospital. When the healthcare system found out about his publication, they filed a SLAPP - Strategic Litigation Against Public Participation - suit against Samson, not realizing that he was a minor!
