K. Denise Rucker Krepp works at the Naval History and Heritage Command.
Ms. Krepp began her career as an active duty Coast Guard officer. After September 11, 2001, Ms. Krepp helped create the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security. She served as Senior Counsel on the House of Representatives Homeland Security Committee. During the first Obama Administration, Ms. Krepp served as the Maritime Administration Chief Counsel and Special Counsel to the U.S. Department of Transportation General Counsel.
Ms. Krepp and her family live in Washington, DC. She serves as locally elected official (Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner) and Girl Scout troop leader. Ms. Krepp is also a member of the Transportation Security Administration Surface Transportation Security Advisory Committee and is the DC Ambassador for the Military Women’s Memorial.
A prolific writer, Ms. Krepp’s essays have been published in The Washington Post, Richmond Times-Dispatch, Maritime Executive, CQ Roll Call, The Hill is Home, Tradewinds, Proceedings, and Gcaptain.
