Tracy Gostyla



Tracy is an attorney with Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), where she assists in administering the CFTC’s whistleblower program, which issues monetary awards to whistleblowers who provide the Commission with original information that leads to the successful enforcement of covered actions, or related actions, in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.  A 1999 graduate of The University of Texas School of Law, she started her legal career practicing corporate and securities law at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP.  A desire to work in the public service sector led Tracy to a position as an Assistant District Attorney in Harris County (Houston), Texas, where she conducted over 40 criminal trials.  


She then obtained a position with the United States Department of Justice (DOJ), Tax Division, where she prosecuted criminal tax and white collar cases for almost ten years.  Prior to her tenure with the CFTC, Tracy worked at DOJ’s Office of International Affairs, where she assisted and advised U.S. prosecutors seeking to secure the return of fugitives in foreign countries, reviewed incoming extradition requests from foreign countries, provided guidance to foreign counterparts as to U.S. criminal laws, and prepared mutual legal assistance requests to assist U.S. prosecutors in obtaining evidence from overseas for criminal investigations and prosecutions in the United States.
