Aristeidis (Aris) Danikas, a Greek/South African, was born in Greece and immigrated to South Africa during his teenage years. With a background in electronics, he established a successful electronics business that thrived for nearly two decades. Aris’s career led him to develop search methods for recovering stolen IT equipment, and he was invited by the South African police services to join the reserve force as a Crime Scene investigator.
Between 2004 and 2008, Aris witnessed and meticulously documented post-Apartheid interrogation techniques, including torture and extrajudicial killings perpetrated by racist police officers against people of color. His courageous public disclosures resulted in severe retaliation, compelling him to return to Greece in 2008 alongside his wife.
In Greece, Aris rebuilt his life and business by creating a grid-tied solar park. He also emerged as a whistleblower, exposing the misconduct of racist police officers in South Africa. Passionate about human rights, Aris now assists international organizations pro bono, conducting policy research and supporting fellow whistleblowers.
