Amina is a licensed psychologist, researcher, and the founder of Maison Rapha, a Mental Health  Centre operating across Southern Africa. She is dedicated to advancing mental health rights and  trauma-informed justice in contexts affected by systemic violence and human rights violations.  

Throughout her career, she has provided psychotherapy to survivors of violence-related trauma  and gross human rights abuses, while also delivering technical support to humanitarian, mental  health and legal practitioners across national, regional, and global settings working in conflict affected regions. 

Her current research – a PhD in psychology examining torture, trauma, gender, and conflict during  the apartheid era – informs her commitment to understanding how institutional violence  intersects with mental health, identity, and inequality. Amina brings expertise in designing and  implementing mental health programs, developing trauma-informed interventions and toolkits,  and integrating trauma-informed practices into community, organisational, and justice  processes.
