Rebecca Jones serves as Deputy Director of the Office of the Whistleblower Ombuds, an independent and nonpartisan support office within the U.S. House of Representatives.Â
In that role, Rebecca provides confidential guidance to the House on best practices for working with whistleblowers from the public and private sectors through trainings, tailored coaching, and unique resources.
Rebecca’s work in the Office builds on a decade of experience working with whistleblowers and Congress in a bipartisan capacity to achieve a more transparent and accountable federal government.
Rebecca has testified before Congress about the importance of protecting whistleblowers at the Department of Veterans Affairs and had the privilege of co-authoring Caught Between Conscience and Career, a guidebook to help whistleblowers safely disclose waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government.
Rebecca has extensive experience working directly with whistleblowers, particularly in helping individuals understand their legal rights and outlets for making protected disclosures such as how to work with Congressional offices. Throughout her career she has taught individuals and groups about whistleblower protections and the inherent value of one voice speaking out against wrongdoing.
Rebecca is licensed to practice law in the state of Maryland. She earned her J.D. from the University of the District of Columbia, David A. Clarke School of Law, and earned her B.A. in Political Science from Notre Dame of Maryland University.
